Festival of Wreaths & Trees in Mount Union 2025 Guidelines

A.) Entry Submission/Retrieval

1.) Submit the following information: - Entrant Name -Contact Information - Entry Theme/Title - Category (Wreath, Adult Tree, Youth Tree, or Décor)

via one of the following methods:

- the entry form on the FestWreathsTreesMU.com website - In person at setup
- text message or call to (719) 332-6975 - email FestWreathsTreesMU@gmail.com

We encourage pre-registration so that we can plan how to set up.

2.)  Bring your entries to set up on Thursday 12/11/2025 between 3PM and 9PM
To the uphill Division St. door Mount Union Presbyterian Church
at the intersection of Shirley and Division Streets in Mount Union.
If you want to enter but are unable to bring your item at that time, contact us to make arrangements before 12/11/25.  All entries should be present by opening (10AM 12/12/25).

3.) Retrieve entries after Festival end on Sunday 12/14/25 at 3PM.
If you won’t be able to make it that day, just contact us to make arrangements.
Should the Festival be closed due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ll contact entrants to arrange.

4.) Entries will be photographed and posted online. To opt-out, just ask (though this would prevent online voting for such entries during the Festival itself).  If you’d like to provide more or different pictures of your entry/entries to be posted online, let us know.

B.) Entry Categories

1. Wreaths are entered into a single category.
   (Wreaths may be divided into Adult and Youth if need be, at the Festival.)

2. Trees are divided into two categories: Adult (ages 16+) or Youth (up to 16).
   (Youth Trees may be divided into Group and Individual if need be, at Festival.)

3. Christmas Décor is entered into a single category.
   (Décor may be divided into Adult and Youth if need be, at the Festival.)
   
   

C.) Entry Content

1. Wreaths and Décor may be of any size/style suitable for indoor display.
   Trees may be of any size/style up to 9’.

2. Wreaths, Décor, and tree decorations may use live greens, but Trees must be artificial.
   Contact us (see below) should you want to use one of the Festival’s trees
   for display of your Tree entry (as opposed to bringing your own tree).

3. Hand-made Tree and Wreath decorations are encouraged,
   but purchased decorations may be used to carry out your theme.
   Décor should be hand-made or, if purchased, hand-decorated/modified
   (or, in the case of a collection or antique, personally curated.)

4. Let us know if antique or otherwise significant ornaments are used,
   so that we can let attendees know, so that your entry can be better appreciated.

5. Battery powered lights are encouraged (but not required).
   LED recommended (for longest battery life).
   Batteries are entrant’s responsibility, but we can replace if needed and turn them
   on/off appropriately. (No open flame. Plug-in lights cannot be plugged in.)

6. If your entry uses spray-on snow, please bring drop cloths to protect the
   surroundings during application.
   
   

D.) Judging and Prizes

1. Judging is by Peoples' Choice voting at the event (and on the website for those who can’t attend in person, or in case of unforeseen location closure).

2. Voting closes with the Festival on Saturday 12/13/2025 at 8PM (both on location online).

3. For Wreath and Tree categories, up to three prizes will be awarded.
   1st prize: $25.00; 2nd prize: $15.00; Honorable Mention: $10.00.
   For Décor category, 1st prize will be $15; 2nd $10; Honorable Mention $5.
   Note: If there are enough entries that a category needs to be divided,
   both new sub-categories will offer the same prizes.

4. Should you want to enter but not compete, let us know when you enter.
   In the past, even if an entry is labeled “non-competing”, it will still receive a few votes; they’ll be disregarded.

5. Should you want to compete but would prefer not to receive a monetary prize, let us know upon entry so that (should you win) we don’t add it to your award.
   (Or, you can return it as a donation.)

E.) Sales/Item Donations
1.) Entrants are welcome to offer their entries (or ornaments from tree entries) for sale. The Festival will turn over collected payments for such upon entry retrieval or by arrangement.  Should you like to sell tree decorations throughout the Festival off of your entered Tree, please leave any extra ornaments with us so that, if purchases are removed during the Festival, we can re-stock and keep your entry looking its best.

2.) We also accept Winter Holiday Items to “sell” for donations to either the Festival or its chosen charity (just let us know your preference when the items are donated).  Bring such donations to set-up on Thursday 12/11/2025 from 3PM to 9PM, or by arrangement before 12/12/24.  Unsold items will roll over to the next year’s donation table or be returned (donator’s preference - just let us know).

F.) Festival Hours
The 2025 Festival of Wreaths and Trees will be open the following hours:
Friday Dec. 12th: 10AM - 7PM Saturday Dec. 13th: 9AM - 8PM
                Sunday Dec. 14th: Noon - 3PM

G.) Responsibility
Neither the Festival of Wreaths and Trees in Mount Union, nor any of our hosting, sponsoring, or participating organizations are responsible for any illness or accidents resulting from attending or participating in this event. Please participate safely!
